A tool is a single page. You can read its source in one sitting and save it to disk.

Nothing leaves your browser unless you ask. No analytics, no cookies, no third-party fetches.

No accounts. The web does not need a login screen for a tip calculator.

Mobile-first. A tool useless on a phone is useless on a Tuesday afternoon.

Aesthetic is part of the function. Generic interfaces breed generic thinking.
